Château de Chamilly is located in the heart of a green valley situated to the north of the Côte Chalonnaise, south Burgundy, 15 miles south from Beaune. The castle was built in the 17th century and was purchased in the 19th century along with the surrounding farmlands and vineyards by The Desfontaine family. The Desfontaine have been winegrowers and farmers for over 12 generations. In 1970, Louis Desfontaine took over the family estate and gave-up crops and live stock farming to solely focus on his passion, growing vineyard and making wine. After marring his wife Véronique in 1981, the Chamilly estate took off, to become one of the benchmark of the Côte Chalonnaise. In 1999, Louis died prematurely and the Domaine fell under the management of his wife Véronique, who raised two children and run the estate successfully with amazing courage. In 2007, her two sons Xavier and Arnaud came along to join her to write the next chapter of this century old family estate.
